Why Wait for the Right Guy to Come Along!

I would like to share some dating tips that I contributed to Asiaone Just Woman in November 2006.

It is not true that only good-looking women get to meet more "eligible" partners.

Men are attracted to confident and intelligent women who carry themselves well. Beautiful women who are insecure and constantly worrying about their looks can be a pain to be with.

Here are eight tips to get you going on your search for Mr Right.

1. Put on your best face

You never know who you may meet. Try to put on light make-up whenever you go out.

2. Get out and have fun

Get involved in self-enrichment classes - go for wine appreciation, dance, singing, tennis or anything that interests you. You might meet someone interesting. Even if you do not, your classes will make you a more interesting person to date.

3. Don't be a wallflower

The right guy will not just appear in front of you. Go to places where you think you may meet someone you that you like. If the intellectual sort is your cup of tea, hang around more at the library and bookstores. You may want to make the first move by asking him for book recommendations. If you're into sporty ones, join a gym class. For added fun and support, get your friends to join you.

4. Be friendly

If you are nice, friends and colleagues will definitely want to introduce their single male friends to you. Having a reputation for being unfriendly and arrogant will turn potential mates off.

5. Work on your internals

Although physical appearance is important, do not neglect your internals. If you have a bad temper, try to curb it. Work on becoming a better person. Men or women with a nice personality will radiate beauty from within. You should always adopt the externals and persuade with your internals. In this way, men will find you irresistible.

6.Don't be a workaholic

No man would want to date a woman who is stressed up or obsessed with work all the time. Try to manage your time effectively so you have time to work, live and play. A balanced person is always happy, relaxed and fun to date.

7. Talk!

A witty, interesting woman who can hold a decent conversation is more fun to be around with. Read more newspapers, books and magazines and keep yourself up to date with the latest news.

8. Mind your Ps and Qs

No man would want to associate with a social misfit. Always observe social and dining etiquette. Not sure how? Enrol for an etiquette class and learn more about dining do's and don'ts.

I hope these tips will help you to snag your ideal guy soon.

Good luck!

My New Relationship Blog!

I have been blogging about food and lifestyle for a year and it has given me a great sense of satisfaction and achievement. I feel happy about being able to share what I am passionate about with my friends. Occasionally, I share my thoughts on love, relationships and marriage.

I don't claim to be an expert in that field, however having run a dating agency for eight years, I have garnered some knowledge on finding true love and maintaining a fulfilling relationship.

Being in love is a beautiful process. It is about two people meeting, connecting and committing to each other. True love is unconditional. It is about putting your partner’s interest before your own. It is about connecting with a person mentally, emotionally and spiritually. It is not easy to maintain a loving relationship, it takes a lot of effort and patience. Many people give up after the first few years of their marriage and take their partner for granted. I find this very sad and would therefore like to share my thoughts on making a relationship or marriage work.

My husband is my main motivation for developing this blog. He is my confidante, best friend, all-time supporter and my pillar of strength. I have chosen to launch this blog during our third wedding anniversary as it is a significant day for me. I am grateful to my husband for being a part of my life. He is sweet, talented, intelligent, understanding and supportive. He is like a ray of sunshine and I am truly happy to have him in my life.

Through this blog, I hope to share with all of you my experience in running the dating agency, the pitfalls I have experienced prior to finding true love and my tips in maintaining a loving and blissful marriage.

With lots of love
Jennifer Yeo
